Duke3D: (clipping) Instant death to sectnum == -1 when pushed into walls by actors
To reproduce this issue, open E2L11, give yourself the steroids powerup and run around the outer walls to the left of the starting area. There will be a number of Liztroopers flying around here. Try to position yourself such that a Liztroop is in the way and try to run through him along the wall.
It may take some map restarts, but eventually, the player will be killed by sectnum == -1
. Oddly enough, after being killed, the player will still be inside the playable sector. It may also occur that the player gets warped to the overlayed SOS area. I'm pretty sure that this is a case of actor clipping being able to push the player into the wall and triggering the instant death, as the one consistent part is that there has to be an actor, e.g. a Liztroop blocking the way.
I have also previously experienced this by accident on E1L6 without the use of the steroids powerup. Hence the issue can occur at normal speed and without trying to trigger it explicitly.
Edit: Testing indicates that this was almost certainly caused by r7829 (4c9e2706). Using r7827 I could not reproduce the crushing.
